Blessing Behind Disaster

About 4 weeks ago, my foot was bitten by a poisonous insect. That was the beginning of my suffering. On the first few days, I  still could move my foot and did my daily activities as usual, but on the next week I suffered, I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t walk because it felt very hurt and I thought that the infection has spred to my toes. So, I decided not to go to campus for a while and went to the hospital.

At the hospital, I went to skin treatment, surgery part, and orthopaedics. I was so shocked when the doctor told me that my foot was in serious condition. I really wanted to get well soon, but the doctor said that it would take much time to cure this kind of disease. The medical word for it is “selulitis”. It could be more dangerous for my health if  I didn’t take much rest. The doctor gave me prescription and I bought the medicine in the drugstore near the hospital.

On the next day, I just slept all day long, ate the medicine, and took a rest as many as possible. My mom treated me very well. I’ve just realized that without her, I’m nothing. No one can change her patience to me. She brought my breakfast, prepared my medicine, helped me to wash my body…. all by her help. I realized, I was  too busy with my own activities so far.

Time passed by and I felt better than it was. Two weeks after I went to hospital, I could move my foot anymore. On Mother’s Day (22th December), I said happy Mother’s Day to my lovely mom and really thanked for her. Although I didn’t give any present on that day, but my mom and I felt very happy because our relationship is  getting closer now after that disaster. I’m sure that there will always  be a nice blessing behind every disaster that comes to us.

How to Make Simple Bookmarks

You can make nice bookmarks from simply a few pieces of paper. The materials we need are a sheet of lightweight card, paper in two different colourts, a glass of tumbler or cup (one end with bigger circle and the other end with smaller circle) , a pencil, a ruler, scissors, glue, and crayon. Here are the steps. First, cut a rectangle about 5 cm x 15 cm out of the card. Second, draw a circle on the remaining card using one end of the glass tumbler or the cup and then glue this to the end of the card rectangle. Next, draw a smaller circle on a coloured paper and cut it out. Glue the smaller circle on the center of the larger card circle. After that, using the other sheet of coloured paper, cut out a small semicircle for the head and glue it to the large circle. Now, you can decorate your own “bug” by using beads or other materials. You wanna try?

Eid Adh Day

Eid Adh Day is one of the big holy days for Moslems all over the world. It is celebrated once a year on Zulhidjah 10th based on Islamic calendar. It is atime for us to remember the story of Abraham and his son, Ismail. Long time ago, The Almighty God, asked Abraham to sacrifice Ismail as a proof of his loyalty, but when he would sacrifice Ismail, Ismail was replaced by a sheep. That’s why, in the next Eid Adh celebration, there is a special ritual. Moslems celebrate this day by sacrificing sheep and other sacrificial animals.

The special ritual that we usually call “sacrificing ritual” become a must for Moslems who can afford to buy sacrificial animals. The animals that are suggested to be sacrificed are camel, sheep, goat, or cow. Then, their meat are given to other Moslems, especially poor Moslems and Moslems who don’t have parents anymore. The point is to build a balance between rich Moslems and poor Moslems, although just for a while or on that day only.

On Eid Adh Day, my family and I usually wake up early in the morning and do the Eid Pray in a mosque near our house. We get along with our neighborhood there. We do the Eid Pray in Jemaah way. Then, we go home and eat some special dishes like Ketupat Sayur and Opor Ayam. It’s similar with our habit on Lebaran Day.

In the afternoon on Eid Adh Day, my family usually have gotten some packages of meat from the Amilin. Amilin are persons who organize and manage the sacrificial meats. They handle all of the processes well, from the sacrificial animals are given by a Moslems, the meats are sacrificed, until the meats are given to other Moslems. My mother usually cook the meats as Rendang or Gulai. We feel very happy on this day because from this celebration, we know that Islam teachs us the meaning of togetherness, harmony, and balance among the Moslems all over the world.

Room Sweet Room. . .

My room is in the back corner, at the left side of my house. The shape of my room is rectangular and the size is about 4×3 meters. The colour of my room is white. My room is beside the garage. From here, I can see the back yard and the place for hanging and drying wet clothes. I choose my room in the back side because the situation is very comfortable for me to do all of my activities.

The Door of My Room

There is a small colourful cupboard beside my bed. Its colours are light blue, light green, purple, and light red. I usually put my casual clothes in it.

There is my younger brother’s guitar on the brown carpet beside dressing table. This is my favourite place in my room.

My Electronic Stuffs

My Electronic Stuffs

There is a 21 inch television, a VCD player, a radio, and two soundsystems on the table across my bed. I seldom watch the TV, but I love listening MP3 from the speaker. I prefer listening radio to watching TV.

My Cupboard

My Cupboard

There is a small cupboard to put my formal clothes in the left side of dressing table. It has gold colour and five shelfs, There is a desk or study table with many books on it beside small cupboard. I usually do my assignment or study in here. I also put all of my photos on a Styrofoam in front of the desk.

About My Self..

Hi everybody! Let me introduce my self. My full name is Amelia Lisara. But please call me Mey or Amel only. I live in East Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. I’m 17 years old. I was born in Bandung. I’m a new student at Indonesia University of Education (UPI). It is located in Sersan Bajuri, North Bandung. I take English Literature because I’m interested in learning English and as we know that English is International Language. Besides, many people said that English at UPI is the best, especially in West Java so I decide to continue my study in here to improve and explore my English skill. The distance from my house to my campus is about 30 kilometers, so it will takes time about two hours (without any traffic jam) if I go to campus by public transportation. Can you imagine how far is it?? But I’m trying to enjoy the situation so it will help me to relax.

My father is a civil servant employee and my mother is a housewife. They are good parents for me. I have two younger brothers but I don’t have any sister. My first younger brother is 11 years old and my second younger brothers is still 4 years old. On the weekend, we usually take a walk to UNPAD Jatinangor to spend the time together. We are a happy small family.

I have a lot of hobbies. My hobbies are reading, listening the music, hanging out with my friends, singing, take a walk, shopping, and daydreaming. But, I love reading the most because with reading, we can enlarge our knowledge about anything and we won’t left behind. Because of reading, I was choosen as student with the highest national examination score in my senior high school and big three the highest score in try out SPMB that held by Primagama and followed by 2100 senior high school students.
